Don’t you just love how they call it a “crossing?”
Every now and then Travel Belles need to treat themselves to a little travel luxury. And there are few more luxurious ways to see the world than aboard a world class cruise liner like the Queen Mary 2. The iconic ship was launched in 2004 and this year Cunard celebrates its 200th transatlantic crossing. On-board the QM2 you can expect to enjoy Cunard’s famous White Star Service in a range of elegant restaurants and bars, see expert speakers including writers, explorers, and scientists, and relax in spas and cinemas between stops at beautiful ports along the way.
To celebrate the Queen Mary 2’s 200th transatlantic journey, Cunard has put together this fascinating infographic which features fun facts about the ship. There is some impressive information such as the number of bottles of Champagne consumed by QM2 passengers and how many hours it took to design the ship. I knew the Queen Mary was big, but really had no clue that it is almost as long as the Empire State Building is tall. (Don’t you think I need to go on this cruise – I mean “crossing” – to see all these facts in action firsthand?)
