Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand

Hot sun, pristine, white sandy beaches, and kind people. These are the memories I take with me of my recent trip to Cancun.

Thanks to the generosity of Royal Holiday, I was able to spend four days at the Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand, an all-inclusive hotel perched steps away from the warm, turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.

From the moment I arrived I was welcomed with beaming smiles and courteous assistance. This and the stunning weather never changed throughout my stay.

Although I’m usually the sort of girl who likes to stay in small, homey establishments, searching out great restaurants and secluded beaches, there was something utterly relaxing about having everything I needed in one beautiful location.

I could sleep peacefully at night with my balcony door open to the ocean breezes and not be afraid of intruders disturbing me.

I never needed to worry about finding a place to eat. Twenty-four hour room service and several restaurants and cafes ensured I never, ever went hungry. Although they offered many types of cuisine, including Asian and Italian food, I was happiest sticking with the local cuisine. I still dream of their ceviche and homemade tacos.

I snoozed on the beach, rode the waves, and  the handmade crafts in the hotel shop, but my favorite day was spent on an outing to Xcaret, a fabulous eco-park about an hours drive from the hotel. There we swam through an underground river, watched fantastic Mayan dances in exquisite costumes, and stood inches away from vivid parrots, scary sharks and friendly stingrays. One day was not enough to see all the amazing performances, explore the ruins and wander the many paths through the jungle, and I strongly recommend the 2-day pass.

Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand is a friendly, safe and beautiful place for a vacation. Close to the city for those who love shopping and an active night life, and only a short drive to places like Xcaret, Tulum and Chichen Itza for those more interested in history, culture and the outdoors.
